Cane Types

There are many types of canes. On this page I will go over the ones I know of best.

Here are some groups:
rigid, folding, and telescoping
mobility (long), support, and ID
all white, red tipped, and black
pencil tip, mushroom tip, roller tip, and metal glide tip
aluminum, graphite, fiberglass, and carbon fiber

My two favorites are the folding graphite cane and the NFB's telescoping carbon fiber cane. I like the graphite cane because it's joints do not stick and it does not seem to get bent. I like the carbon fiber because it's light weight and more durable than the fiberglass cane. The best cane for a beginner is probably the NFB's rigid carbon fiber cane or the rigid fiberglass cane. For a young child or person with multiple disabilities a rigid graphite cane with a roller tip might be better.
